A simple tracking method

Think of the cups as three positions. Start by naming the target cup's position. After each swap, update that single position. If the two moving cups do not include your target, its position stays the same. If they do, your target moves to the other position in the swap.

WORKED EXAMPLE / PRACTICE LOGIC

Target starts in the middle. Middle and right swap → target is right. Left and middle swap → target stays right. Right and left swap → target is left. Pick left.
